Reply:it is very hard to know the meaning of a korean name like that, to know the meaning you have to actually know the Hanja 한자(the old chinese charecters) that the names are based on. for example my name





Yoo Myeong Kim,





this is an unusal name but at first glace it sounds like famous in korean, Yoo meaning to have and Myeong meaning "Name", if i remember correctly, how ever my name is based on a completly diffrent Hanja.





Yoo meaning storege, and Myeong meaning "bright" and Kim my last name meaning "Gold", Don't ask me why my name is like that, it was my grndfather's idea





so the conculusion is becouse there are Hanjas that sound the same but mean diffrent in order to know for SURE what the name means you need to know what hanja it is based on
